2-1-1 Database Information
The 2-1-1 database is a real-time, updated, comprehensive resource of supports and services in the community. This resource database supports the accurate information the 2-1-1 Information & Referral Specialists provide to people in need, is available online for people to search themselves, assists case managers and human service providers serving their clients, etc. It's a community resource!
It's critical the information is kept updated and it takes a community!
How is 2-1-1's Database Updated?
Resource Specialists update the database daily - this could be new programs added, funding changes, seasonal program registration, hours revised, phone number or contact person changes, and other information! On average, nearly 200 agency records are updated each month!
Formal Updates
A formal review of the information in the resource database, by the organization's contact person, is best practice in the I&R field. Central Michigan 2-1-1 sends each organization a copy of their record for review as well as a link to update electronically annually.
If you need to update your information, please reach out to your Resource Specialist (listed on the right).
Interim Updates
To keep information current, some changes need to be made more than once a year. Updates to keep the information current, like changes to hours, program funding, phone number, etc. are made quickly to keep the community up-to-date on changing information in the health and human service field.
Please contact us if anything changes in your organization or programs that impact how people access or receive your services!
Where does 2-1-1 get updated information from?
Everywhere! BUT before changes occur to an agency's database record, the information is verified. The 2-1-1 team learns about new information from our formal update process, attending community meetings, list-serves, newspapers and social media, callers, partners, etc.
Style and Standards
Central Michigan 2-1-1's database is part of a broader statewide Michigan 2-1-1 database and adheres to a Style Guide for consistency, both for formatting and how programs are listed. Programs are listed under the organization that provides the service, under the organization's legal name and any commonly known names are linked.
Programs are listed or "indexed" in the database following the Inform USA/2-1-1 LA County Taxonomy of Human Services in accordance with Best Practices in the field. Resource Specialists categorize programs by Taxonomy Terms and geographic service area for accurate and consistent searchability. Central Michigan 2-1-1 is proudly Accredited by Inform USA and upholds our resource database practices to Accreditation standards. If you have questions about how your organization is listed, please contact a Resource Specialist!
